SchoolsBuddy uses Wonde as an integration partner to sync data from supported MIS/SIS systems.

Onboarding Process: Step-by-Step
Contact from Wonde
SchoolsBuddy initiates the process by requesting access via Wonde.
A Wonde representative will contact your school's lead contact to enable the connection and conduct any required data auditing.
You will be asked to authorise the connection between your MIS and Wonde.
Confirmation & Initial Sync
Once Wonde completes the data setup, SchoolsBuddy configures the daily import.
An import runs automatically every night.
The SchoolsBuddy team conducts a final data review before confirming that your system is live or requesting any necessary checks.
Note on Parent/Guardian Contacts: By default, SchoolsBuddy imports Priority 1 contacts for all students. If you require Priority 2 (or higher) contacts to be imported, please inform our team. (Note: Contact priority levels vary by MIS type.)

Technical Sync Rules & Logic
New SIS Integrations: For new SIS partners, Wonde first onboards core data sets. Additional categories (such as Medical data) are added in subsequent phases based on school requirements and development priorities.
Names: SchoolsBuddy can display first names using either Wonde's Legal Name field or Preferred Name (Forename). This setting applies globally across all staff and students. Middle names are imported into the Other Name field.
Phone Numbers: SchoolsBuddy syncs one parent/guardian phone number per contact, selecting the first non-null value from Wonde in the following order:
Mobile>Primary>Phone>Home>Work.-
Email Addresses: All users must have a unique email address in your MIS/SIS to access SchoolsBuddy.
Students/Parent: The system imports the first available email address using this priority order:
Email>Primary>Home>Work.Staff: The system imports the first available email address using this priority order:
Work>Email>Primary>Home.
FAQ
Q: What time does our MIS sync with Wonde?
A: Generally data is synced from your MIS every four hours. You can see the timings (shown in UTC) for the Wonde sync when you log in to: http://platform.wonde.com/
Q: Can schools trigger a sync to Wonde themselves?
A: Schools cannot trigger the sync to Wonde themselves, but can request this from the Wonde support team if needed. Please note you would also need to request a data sync from Wonde to SchoolsBuddy by contacting the SchoolsBuddy support team.
Q: What time does SchoolsBuddy sync with Wonde?
A: Schools in APAC region: 18:00pm UTC (2:00am CST)
Schools in EMEA region: 2:30am UTC
Q: What if we need to update any student /parent/ staff details?
A: Update the details in your MIS as usual. These will sync to SchoolsBuddy within 24-48 hours. If you need to make urgent changes you can also edit some details directly within the Reception > Users section of SchoolsBuddy (depending which changes - contact Support team for more guidance).
Q: Will students automatically be removed when they leave?
A: Yes, as long as they are marked as a leaver/ alumni in your MIS system. Wonde provides SchoolsBuddy with a data feed of leavers.
Q: Will parents automatically be removed when their student leaves?
A: Parents' accounts will be deactivated unless the student has a sibling at the school who still has a SchoolsBuddy account.
Q: Will Staff automatically be removed when they leave?
A: For internal staff this differs depending on which MIS system you are using; contact us for more details. All external staff, will still have a SchoolsBuddy account until they are manually deleted. An Organisation Super Admin user will need to delete their account manually in SchoolsBuddy.
Q: Can SchoolsBuddy import Medical information?
A: Yes, most MISs can sync Medical information to Wonde on a nightly basis for SchoolsBuddy. Please contact us for more information.
Q: Can SchoolsBuddy import Dietary Needs?
A: Yes, dietary needs can be imported via Wonde as part of the Medical data sync. However, once they have been added to SchoolsBuddy they can not be deleted and will need to be managed directly in SchoolsBuddy student records. Please contact us for more information.
Q: Can SchoolsBuddy import Attendance information?
A: Yes, most MISs can sync attendance information to Wonde for SchoolsBuddy. Please read our guide for more information: Absentee Alerts / MIS Absence.
Q: Are Homerooms / registration classes automatically updated?
A: This depends on which MIS system is used. If there are no students in the homeroom/ registration class it will either be deleted automatically, or there will be an option to remove the homeroom in the Reception > Reg Groups screen. However, if the homeroom registration class is deleted and reinstated next year, it will not automatically return - please contact SchoolsBuddy to reinstate it.
Q: Will teachers' subject classes be imported to SchoolsBuddy?
A: Teachers' subject classes will be imported for the purpose of setting up Parent Teacher Conferences and communications.
Q: Can Passport information be synced to SchoolsBuddy?
A: SchoolsBuddy does not currently import passport information from Wonde. Passport Information can be synced from OpenApply currently for the Tuition Fee Billing module, but it is currently not used in any other part of the system.
Q: Can student photos be synced from Wonde?
A: Currently SchoolsBuddy can only sync student photos from ManageBac+. For all other SIS integrations we offer an SFTP upload facility. Please contact us for more information.
