Quick answer

SchoolsBuddy lets staff and organisers communicate with members, parents and staff, and most staff tasks send notifications automatically. Messages go out at region, group or event level, so people only get information about the groups and events they belong to.

You can use SchoolsBuddy to communicate with members, parents and staff. Almost every task a staff member or organiser carries out notifies other people.

How messages are targeted

SchoolsBuddy has a structure of regions, groups and events.

  • A club can contain unlimited groups.
  • Events are often created for groups, but you can also create whole-club events.
  • Pupils are members of a region. They can be added to as many groups and attend as many events as needed.

This means communications can happen at region, group or event level. All communications are personalised to the groups members are in, so parents do not receive information about groups or events that do not concern them. When members and parents sign in, they only see the groups and events linked to them.

What staff and organisers can send

  • Notifications to members about events they must attend (Auto Notify)
  • Event invites to members or parents (this depends on how the club is set up)
  • Changes to key event information, such as time, date or location
  • A notice that a member has been selected for an event
  • Cancellation of an event
  • Notices for any region, group or event
  • News for any region, group or event
  • Match or event reports
  • SMS Global Messaging
  • Invites for parents or members to sign up and register for after-school clubs (if the module is active for your school)

What parents and members can do

Parents can:

  • respond to invites (if the club is set up for parents to respond)
  • select pull events for their children

Members can:

  • do the same as parents (if the club has chosen to make members responsible)
  • take part in event and group chat, if the event or group organiser has turned it on

How messages are delivered

  • Email: parents and members receive emails.
  • App: if they have downloaded the iOS or Android app (both apps currently in development), they receive in-app push notifications and in-app notifications.
  • SMS: they can also receive text messages on their mobile.
