To share the location while the bus is running, the bus monitors must use the SchoolsBuddy App. The tracking feature is not available for the browser version.
This guide explains how to enable GPS tracking on your mobile device, using iOS as an example. The process for Android is similar.
-
Locate the Transport Event: Navigate to the required transport event within the app.
-
Request to Track: Open the event, and a prompt will appear requesting permission to track the route. if the prompt doesn't show up, please click the tracking icon on the top right corner:
-
Grant Location Permissions: The first time you attempt to track, you will be asked to provide the necessary permissions for location tracking.
Choose Allow While Using the App. - Then, it will ask you to allow permission to be tracked in the background. Please select Change to Always Allow to enable continuous tracking, even when the app is running in the background.
-
Confirm Tracking is Enabled: Once tracking is enabled, a blue notice will appear at the bottom of the screen to confirm that GPS tracking is active.
- Automatic Data Collection: With tracking enabled, the register can be taken as normal. Location data for each student boarding and exiting the bus will automatically be saved, along with the current bus location.
-
Stop Tracking (Optional)
If you exit the register, you will be prompted to either continue tracking or stop. If you choose to stop, location tracking will cease, and we will no longer access your device’s location until explicitly allowed again.
